Principles of Play
The most important "rules" are listed below. These philosophies should guide player conduct session-to-session.
CORE PRINCIPLES
Everyone takes responsibility for making the game fun. This is the most important principle. We want this to be a good time for everyone involved, first and foremost.
The default ruleset is entirely homebrewed and not 100% set in stone; specific rules are subject to change as the campaign dictates. The Referee will often have to make ad-hoc rulings based on their best judgment. As these rulings are made, open discussion is encouraged. Your input will always be heard and appreciated, if not always implemented. During play, the Referee's rulings stand, but between sessions is welcome.
All in-game situations can be navigated with little to no rules knowledge. Avoid saying things like ‘I use my Deception power to lie to this person’. Instead, just state what you do (or what your character says) and the Referee will call for a roll when appropriate.
The campaign setting is a very dangerous place. Per more ‘traditional RPG’ conventions, punches won’t be pulled. You will survive through strategy and teamwork, or you will die.
You pick a path to adventure. The Referee does has not prepared a pre-existing story or plot to speak of, though there are an abundance of NPCs, adventure sites, etc. The campaign world is there and you are in it. YOU decide what you do, and the Referee will react.
CODE OF CONDUCT & DISCLAIMER
Any form of discrimination, abuse, or harassment will not be tolerated. There are no second chances.
The campaign is intended for players who are comfortable with mature content.
There may be descriptions of violence, murder, torture, psychological/existential horror, sex, drug-use, slavery, racism, sexism, classism, and probably a bunch of other 'isms'.
There will not be descriptions of rape, pedophilia, sexual assault, incest, or bestiality. Some of these themes may be implied as the scenario dictates, but will not occur "on screen" and will never happen to player characters.
If there are any questions, concerns, or clarifications needed on the above, please reach out to the Referee. Great care will be taken to ensure that the game remains a safe space.
