Campaign Structure
PERSISTENT WORLD GAMING
The campaign is being run as a "persistent world", without a pre-planned group or story.
Consistent time records will be kept. The setting is dynamic - things will change on their own over time if the players do not intervene. Seasons will progress, monsters will roam, and kingdoms will rise and fall.
Consistent attendance is not obligatory - there are no expectations that the same group of players gather each time to play. You may drop in and out as the campaign goes on, whether you try to play every session, or only opt-in once every year.
SESSION SCHEDULING
Players are encouraged to form parties and proactively schedule games with the Referee and whomever else they wish. Given the large player base, there may be certain groups or styles that individuals gravitate towards, which is entirely okay!
The Referee will also regularly send out invites via Discord for "open table" games where any current players are eligible to attend. In addition, he may organically schedule games with smaller subsets of players on a whim, or to follow-up on unfinished business from a prior session.
With the above in mind, you will not be able to attend every single game session. Do not let this upset you. Some gaming is better than no gaming, and it is not feasible to assure equitable opportunities among dozens of people with different schedules.
If you do wish to play more often, be proactive. The Referee will make himself available.
Sessions will be conducted in multiple formats and locales. They may occur at the Referee's home, local bars or breweries, game stores, parks, and online. If you wish to offer a space or host a game, please discuss details with the Referee. If there are environments that you would prefer NOT to play in, please communicate that openly as well. Reasonable accommodations will be made according to attendees' needs.
INVITING NEW PLAYERS
New players are welcome! If you wish to introduce friends to the campaign, please contact the Referee. In many scenarios, "one-shot" sessions can be scheduled organically with potential new players without a commitment or expectations that they will become a regular attendee.
The Referee will ultimately dictate who is on the invite list for the "open table" games. If those sessions are regularly filling, then others may not be added, even if they participate in the occasional "one-shot" session with a few friends.
Decisions on adding more regular invitees will be made based on capacity and compatibility. An effort will be made to be as inclusive as possible, but the long-term sustainability of the campaign is a higher priority than continually growing the player-base.
